MAJOR GENERAL JOHN W. MALUDA

Major General John W. Maluda is Director, Cyberspace Transformation and Strategy, Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

He is responsible for establishing cyberspace as a domain in and through which Air Force flies and fights, to deliver sovereign options for defense of the United States and its global interests.  Additionally, he shapes doctrine, strategy, and policy for communications and information activities and serves as the functional advocate for 30,000 personnel.

 

General Maluda enlisted in the Air Force in 1973 and received his commission in 1978 as a distinguished graduate of the ROTC program at Troy State University, Ala.  The General's career highlights include serving at three major commands, with unified combatant commands, a defense agency, the White House and the Air Staff.

 

General Maluda's staff experience includes positions at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Air Combat Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air Force Special Operations Command, U.S. Space Command and the White House Communications Agency.  He was also the Director, Single Integrated Air Picture System Engineering Task Force, and special assistant for Joint Command and Control Matters, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Warfighting Integration at Headquarters U.S. Air Force.  He served as Director of Communications and Information for Headquarters Special Operations Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Combat Command.

 

Before assuming his current position, General Maluda was Vice Commander, 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
